Wooden constructions pushed to new limits by building the world's largest wooden skyscraper!

02 | OCT | 2017

The largest wooden skyscraper in the world, was completed in Vancouver, raising the bar of wooden constructions in the world of engineering

Brock Commons Tallwood House is a student housing building of the University of British Columbia (UBC), recently completed and occupying a prominent position in the world of architecture, being the tallest building built of wood!

This was designed by the Canadian office Acton Ostry Architects Inc., arising from a joint effort between a number of companies, taking into account the findings that working with wood could reduce the timeframe of the work, making the assembly of the structures incredibly fast!

This building reaches a height of 53 meters, which can host up to 404 students and comprises a mixture of rooms, studios, study spaces and conviviality in addition to a rooftop student lounge.

Due to meticulous planning and efficient integration of the design and construction processes, the Brock Commons was completed only 70 days after the manufacture and shipping of prefabricated components - considerably less than the time it would have taken to complete the same work in others materials.
